Set the paper. Run the exam. Mark it in one place.

ICT Setter is a suite for teachers of HKDSE Information and Communication Technology. One app writes Papers 1A, 1B and 2 in English and Chinese and prints them as the HKDSE sets them; the other runs those papers as exams, online or on paper, and takes them through marking to released results. Both run on a server at your school.

ICT Setter

For setters: write and print papers

  • Every question in English and Chinese, side by side
  • Tables, code listings, pseudocode and diagrams built in
  • Word and PDF in the HKDSE layout, for both languages
  • Share with colleagues, keep every version, reuse questions

Assessment

For exam teams: run, mark and report

  • One exam online, on paper, or both at once
  • Auto-marking, marking schemes and double marking
  • Results, grades and a report for every candidate
  • Statistics on every question and option
How running an exam works

From a blank page to released results

  1. Write the paper in ICT Setter, in both languages at once, and check it with the built-in validation.
  2. Preview and print it: the preview is the real PDF that will print, in English or Chinese.
  3. Lock it for exams and write the marking scheme. A locked paper never changes under a running exam.
  4. Set up the exam in Assessment: candidates, sign-in slips, timing, and which language each candidate sits.
  5. Run it online, on paper or both, with a live view for invigilators.
  6. Mark by script or by question. Choice and short answers mark themselves; the rest are marked against the scheme.
  7. Release results and per-candidate reports, then look at how each question performed.

Tested on real papers

The 2025 HKDSE Sample Paper and FM2 practice papers (Papers 1A, 1B and 2) and the 2025 HKDSE Papers 1B and 2 have been transcribed into ICT Setter, printed page for page against the originals, and run as exams through to marked, released results.

It runs on your school's own server, and your papers and candidates' answers stay there. What running it at your school involves · Technical details
